Color Blast

These colorful creations were all inspired by and are descended from Ruffle Monster. They are a bit toned down from full-on monstrosity. But they still shout, "Check it out! Can you believe this thing?!"

My earliest crochet creations were all quite conservative. Mom was my teacher, after all, and she was a 1950's lady.  😍 But, she was adventurous, too, and an original member of the Elvis Presley Fan Club. 😎  So, I know that she would appreciate how I started exploring the daring new possiblities of colorful crochet.

Once I started having fun with the impossible-made-possible, some nonstandard blending, and a few unauthorized combinations (...ruffle and fringe? ...yes, please!), I couldn't stop.

I started questioning crochet rules, and quickly realized how easy it is to ignore authority. Once I started breaking yarn laws (...three categories of yarn, from two different companies, all in one piece? ...absolutely!), I had to break more.

All of the items on this page were created over the summer months. I have since worked on several more variations of this lively line, posted in Costume Party and Velvet Bold and Confetti and Rust. I crocheted so many colorful creations through autumn, I even made a post for Colorful Leftovers
