Sunrise Sherbet

Image
So fun! I always love crocheting with bulky weight yarn. It works up fast and easy. It makes me feel productive. Even when all I'm doing is jus'chillin'😎 and hanging out doin' my fave hobby.🤩 Each one of these pieces is actually just half a scarf, which makes for a cute quartet of colors. A slightly different pattern for each one, all the same shape, and varying lengths. They're sisters in a set of a sunrise color scheme, and I absolutely adore the look and feel of the whole project.   This bulky weight, ribbed texture yarn is now discontinued. Darn! I bought four skeins of it last year, with exactly this kind of project in mind. I imagined a slightly different piece in each color, but all with the same general theme. Line them up, and see how it looks. Now I wish I had purchased more! I wasn't sure if I'd like working with that ribbed texture, so I thought I'd just whip out mini-scarves, in different stitches, and see what happens. Of course it all tu

What a Mess!

Yes, a mess. A fine mess. I had way too much fun with this messy project. It is such a hot mess. I love it too much. Two scarves... d ouble trouble? More than that. Three yarns...triple trouble? Kinda, but add one more. Quadruple the fun! Yes, the mess. The three yarns in the photo above form t he body of one piece (below left) and the fringe of the other piece (below right). Then, a fourth kind of yarn is the ruffle and fringe of the left piece a nd the body of the right piece. Got it? Love it! A fine mess, a fun mess, say "yes!" to the mess. I'm such a fan of combining textures and pairing yarns, here's an accounting of three other cozy combinations I've created recently: Two Blue, Magenta Mischief , Moonstone . Because of that triple inspiration of doubles, of course the math worked out that I had to next try creating a double project of triples. Making sense so far?! 😎 I had two colors of chenille yarn leftover from previous projects (powder blue and lilac

Hippie Candy

Image
I had so much fun making this piece, I just kept on making it. So cheery and fun. No plan, other than trying to use up as many colorful leftovers as I could. Another texture added, good. Different color this time, perfect. 😎 Candy colored color combinations, plus ruffle, plus fringe, with a touch of chenille smoothness, and a smidgen of  bouclé fluffiness. Too wild'n'wacky? Not if you're a hippie! And certainly not if you're a color-luvin' crochet-playin' funster like me. 🤩 My brother, Frank, had the idea to call this piece "Hippie Candycorn," and I loved it immediately. But there are a few more colors present than just the classic candycorn yellow, orange, and white. With multiple shades of pink, and a few other tones of peaches and cream, this piece doesn't quite get the "corn" bit. Still lovin' the "candy" part, though. And, of course, diggin' the "hippie" thing! Thanks, Frank. 😍 Love, love, love that

Two Blue

Image
Too blue? Never.  Too much texture? Impossible.  Not enough sparkle? Maybe.😋 Yes, I love blue. Especially when one blue (cotton and acrylic blend) has a metallic thread running through it, and the other blue (chenille) feels like velvet. I thought these two color schemes and textures went perfectly well together. And because they were two yarns perfectly matched, I kept them connected and made two pieces, perfectly paired. One is all about the ruffle, and the other is all about the fringe. All blues are dear old friends of mine. Oh, how I have loved them all:   Blue Moon , Neptune's Beard , Blue Jean Baby ,  Sea Shine , Winter Blues .   So many variations .  In combination with other colors, blue is also again and still my other favorite among so many favorites: Earth and Mars , Winter Mint , Jelly Bean Cotton Candy , Granny Square Greatness , Hippie Fringe , Velvet Bold ... and on, and on. Whoa! Better stop with those other blues for now. And focus on these two new blues! 😍 The
