Under Color Crochet

I absolutely love this pink pair! 😍 These two shawls are upside down friends, or mirror mates, or maybe sideways sisters. 😁 I had so much fun with the comparison of one starting with dark pink at the top, and the other starting with light pink at the top. Both so pretty and perfect! They are made with the same yarn, Hikoo Concentric Cotton , from my fave place in the galaxy, Yarned & Dangerous . And the pattern for both is my same ol' fave again, from the Granny Shawls adventure.    The yarn is so gorgeous and fine, made of three extra fine strands together, that gradually change color.   Look at these two cutie patooties! That is Ollie laying down on the left, with Ramona standing on the right, and they are both gorgeous models for crochet bandanas! 😍My cousin, Linda, who is a regular here on Under Color Crochet, asked if I could make a few kerchiefs for her, like the one she saw on a friend. She sent me a picture, and of course, I immediately said, "Yes!" Actually, what I said was, "Thank you for giving me this awesome project so that I can dive in and go wild with colors!" 🤩 I had way too much fun making a whole party-pack of these kerchief cuties - playing with the color schemes, and modifying each one just a teeny bit to make all unique pieces.   I am so inspired by all of these amazing pieces! -  State Fair Masters  - Every picture in that folder, and here on this post, was created by a talented artist out there somewhere, who I don't know yet, but I sure do want to! Last night, Frank and I went back to the fair, just so that I could get pictures of all the items I gawked at last week but was too excited about my own two ribbons to take pictures. 😆 So, now this time through, I was more focused, and I gave each of these pieces the time and attention that they deserve. And, um, that's called crochet-nerd-stalking and geeky gawking. 😎 Well, I do have a bit of a history with that...and I am not ashamed. Here is last year, when I did the exact same thing: Crochet Gawking . 😍 Above are two incredible pieces that stopped me in my tracks. (And I do have to chuckle at the Lego items displayed beneath them. 😁) I stood there, staring at all that color, marveling all those stitches, just awed, for a good five minutes....

  I am thrilled with  a 2nd place and a 3rd place ribbon on these two pieces! 🤩😎 Two out of seven ain't bad. 😁 Thank you, Colorado State Fair judges! As you can see, I am excited here. 😆 I am now very motivated to improve my skills, and upgrade my color schemes.  Next year, I plan on entering more creative and colorful items. There are so many possible categories in the fair guidelines, it is a blizzard of options. The seven items are (above, from left to right): 1. This little collection of bookmarks is made from the leftover yarn of the glorious shawl project . Which I'm still dreaming about. And may repeat someday soon, with more of this silk-mohair yarn, or something very similar, maybe another color. Love it so much, can't stop obsessing over it. And these sweet bookmarks kept me occupied with touching and loving and feeling this gorgeous yarn again. Now I want more. More mohair, more silk.  😎 I love this silk-mohair yarn so much, I want to marry it. 😍 This is my first time making bookmarks, and I am now a true fan. These are fun, easy pieces that work up quick, and all look a little bit different - because I keep tweeking the basic patterns 😁 to have more fun. I will definitely make more bookmarks in the future, with different yarn. And I plan on exploring other patterns. For this set, I used variations of two patterns from different books. These two sweet pieces are the cutest  Pillow Pair  in the galaxy! I absolutely love everything about them both. So fun and easy to make (just granny square your way along 😍), and a great way to use up multiple leftovers and favorite colors. I do have plenty of both. 😎 These two pillows have pretty much all the same variety of colors, but there is a big difference in how those colors are arranged. And that adds up to two completely different looks. Like, color magic. I love that! 🤩 Above, on the left, is the loosey-goosey version of this granny square pattern, with three ch stitches in every corner, and one ch stitch between every set of three dc stitches along the sides. And on the right is the righty-tightie version, same granny square concept, but with only two ch stitches per corner, and no ch stitches in between the three dc stitches along the sides. The other big difference between these two pieces is the strands of yarn in each stitch. The loosey-goosey granny square...

  I can't stop doing this. My favorite pattern , simplified (no fringe, no tassels, just one solid color), and slightly modified (tc instead of dc). Wow! So gorgeous and huge and amazing, I love it! Big Pink Shawl The tc stitches all the way around opened it up so much, I don't even know what to call it... big beast of holes? see-through giant? flimsy pink monster? It doesn't matter. It is too fabulous for words. 😆  It is difficult to get a sense of how big this thing is. This helps- putting my jean jacket in the middle of it: It is so lace-like and delicate, except it isn't. The yarn is good solid cotton, and the whole thing is sturdy, even kind of hefty. But not exactly warm weather wear, too many holes. And not exactly for cool weather, just too heavy. I don't know what to do with it. Why did I even make this? Again. 😂 Because of that tc all the way, this piece worked up fast and easy. Back and forth, each row, it gets bigger and bigger, faster and fastest. I ...

I am obsessed with this yarn! It is a lace weight, mohair-silk blend, in this amazing color scheme: Palomino Heather . I love it so much, love it, love it, love love love. It feels amazing, like... a feather cloud glow mist. I know, I know, that is a silly name for this post. But, well, I do have a history of making up silly names. Like,  Fireworks Cake Volcano Circus .  😂 So, yea, this sweet new piece is all about feather, cloud, glow, mist. Those are the things I think when I try to touch it, when it apparently touches back. It is barely there, can hardly feel the full weight of it, like almost no weight at all. Amazing. It looks so beautiful, in every light. So magically gorgeous, just hard to describe how incredibly fabulous this yarn is.
