Under Color Crochet

  Seven crochet items, dropped off today: entries in the Arts & Crafts division of the Colorado State Fair. 😎 I am super excited about this, and I had so much fun getting everything ready. There are so many possible categories in the fair guidelines, it is a blizzard of options. The seven items are (above, from left to right): 1. So much happening in this picture, I can't stop staring. And I can't decide which detail I want more. 😎 The fringe, obviously. But, also those ruffles. And then, there's the compressed yarn scraps in those cool containers. All the things I love the most. 😍 Over Christmas break I had plenty of crochet time, and I binged on all my favorites: easy patterns, colorful combinations, and all the embellishments. This three-piece set got more embellished every hour. From ruffle to double-ruffle, and from fringe fest to monster fringe fest. 🤩 I love them hanging out, and I love them all bundled up.   A sparkly scarf makes the perfect holiday gift wrap! 😎 It is like wrapping up with a handful of tinsel. This amazing yarn isn't actually yarn, I think. Maybe. Not sure, exactly. 😻 It is basically a metallic thread that is simply gorgeous, so colorful and sparkle'tastic, it is like disco ball magic for crochet art. 🤩 I bought four shimmering cakes of this at my favorite yarn store , Yarned & Dangerous . I used only two of the cakes for this little mesh scarf project, and now I'm wondering what I should create with the other two. I'm feeling something kinda disco-dream-like in the future, maybe. 🪩 The two strands of sparkle yarn makes it look so fancy, but this simple mesh scarf is not difficult.   I'm completely in love with the newspaper , Crochet Nation . 😍 I made this little peachy purse starting with their pattern instructions for the "Fringe Clutch," issue 2, page 4. With a few of my own experimental modifications. Because, you had me at fringe. 😄 But, then I decided it was not enough fringe. 😎 Thank you, Crochet Nation , for the inspiration, and for being awesome. 😘 As you can see below, and in the Peachy Purse folder, my final product is just a rough draft. It needs some blocking, and next time maybe some closer attention to stitch counts, plus I think a little bit more fringe. 😆 Still, not bad for a quick whip-it-up piece that is just cute as a button and sweet as a peach.  I am obsessed with fringe'y purses.   I absolutely love how pretty this little scarf turned out! It is just so sweet and simple, I want to make a million more just like this . 😄 I love everything about it: the color is so natural, the shape is sturdy but soft, and the whole look and feel of it is practical, pretty, and just plain fabulous. 🤩 Nothing fancy here, just my same fave simple mesh pattern, that I first described here: original post from the mists of time . Not too big, and no fluffy ruffle, just a bit of easy fringe, and a wonderful earth-toned color that sometimes looks toasted golden, and in certain light looks almost creamy.   I'm so mixed on this project - mixed between love and more love! 😍 Also, doubt and confusion. 😁 I thought this first piece (a super sized granny square in the funnzies'est colors ever!) would work up to be the perfect replacement rug for a dusty gray one (that I want to put somewhere else). But now that this colorful fun one is done, I love it too much to put on the floor. And the second colorful piece I'm currently working on is even more colorful than the previous one, thus even less likely to end up as a rug. But, I'm still calling them rugs. 😋 This yarn is so scratchy, I thought it was going to be perfect for making a rug. (Thinking, decorative rug, in an easy space, for being warm under bare feet and socks. Not a rug at the front door for wiping your farmer boots. 😁) And this rough yarn IS kinda perfect... but also kinda NOT perfect.   A perfect piece for Halloween fun, and also great anytime anywhere (look how gorgeous it goes with my jean jacket, below). 😎 I absolutely love the sparkling darkness of this piece. 😍 The black color is so deep and rich, and the metallic thread running through it is such sweet twinkling fun.
