Under Color Crochet

  I absolutely love how pretty this little scarf turned out! It is just so sweet and simple, I want to make a million more just like this . 😄 I love everything about it: the color is so natural, the shape is sturdy but soft, and the whole look and feel of it is practical, pretty, and just plain fabulous. 🤩 Nothing fancy here, just my same fave simple mesh pattern, that I first described here: original post from the mists of time . Not too big, and no fluffy ruffle, just a bit of easy fringe, and a wonderful earth-toned color that sometimes looks toasted golden, and in certain light looks almost creamy.   These sixteen granny squares came out of one skein of specialty yarn that has automatic color changes. I have a love-hate relationship with this Yarnspirations All-In-One Granny Square yarn. The love is because it is a gorgeous, earthy, cocoa and cream color scheme. (And ooo-laa-laa, I do have a long term love affair going on with earth tones: Caramel Mocha , Sand Sparkle,   Comfy Cozy .) Plus, there's more love for this all-in-one yarn, because it looks and feels excellent, sturdy but also smooth and soft. But, oh dear, then there is the hate because, well, I shouldn't say hate. There is too much hate in this world. I will not say I hate this yarn. But I will say that I have as much dislike for it as I have love, because it is so frustrating to make it actually work as all-in-one.   I absolutely love the texture of back-loop-only (blo). Oh, how those ribbed rows flow! It is a bit more work, because reaching around the front loop can be a teensy inconvenient. But, there is a rhythm to it, and once you feel that flow, it is so worth it.  Besides this fantastic ribbed texture, check out these gorgeous earthy colors! I like the names that the yarn company picked for the colors    (above, left to right) : mushroom, cognac, biscuit. What this photo doesn't show is how luxurious these three pieces feel. Fantastic! There is a beautiful shine to this acrylic yarn, and a luxurious smoothness that has naptime comfort all over it. I know acrylic yarn often gets a bad wrap, and sometimes that is justly so. I love earth tones! Especially when it includes sparkle. 😍 Darn, the sparkle doesn't show up well in these photos, but I promise it is there. This yarn has a thread of metallic gold running through it, and it adds a beautiful glimmer to an already gorgeous texture.  This yarn is called Shawl in a Cake, and the official name for the color scheme is "Namaste Neutrals." A lot of yarn companies call these delicious color schemes "Neutrals," and I simply have to disagree. There is nothing neutral about chocolate, caramel, coffee, and cream. Please! 😉   This yarn is so wonderful to work with, I keep working with it. 😎 Around this same time last year, I posted the little project of pieces called  Sand Sparkle . At that time, I was keeping it small and simple... oh, how times have changed! 😎 Just the fringe in these two caramel mocha pieces added up to more yarn used than the sandy sparkly project.   This colorful trio of scarves was relaxing and fun to make. I followed the same easy mesh pattern for all three, using bargain yarn and a size J crochet hook. The cozy colors played out so pretty, I kept wanting to make another one. Above (from left to right) you can see the color schemes of Woodsy, Fall, and Artist Print. Great names for great color schemes! Love the texture! Bargain yarn isn't a favorite for many people, but I think it sometimes gets a bad wrap. I do love the luxury of high end yarn, too, but I'm not snobby when it comes to having a little colorful fun. 😘 Love how the multi-colors play out in the mesh pattern! I made each one a little bit different length, so that I could see how it all stacked up. These pieces are all durable, so sturdy with an extra row between the mesh. Perfect for everyday wear, and keeping warm. Lots of colors, but nothing fancy, no ruffles or sparkle. I did put a little bit of fringe on the Fall scarf, because it just seemed right. ...
