Candy Cakes

All my faves: colorful fun, fringe, ruffle, scarf cakes, unicorn rope. Why do I keep doing this?!  😂 Nothing new here, just a simple mesh pattern with a few fun'zies. 😍  Color fun! 🤩 Fringe Fest! Ruffle Love! 😍 Unicorn Rope - starter chain fun, my fave use of leftovers. Does this pile of crochet projects have too many color combinations going on? Never! 😄 Here is a whole folder of more colors: Candy Cakes .  Colorful Crochet + Ruffles + Fringe = Creative Fun

Chunky Granny

And here we have two more examples of granny squares that I'm taking to Genghis Con. 🤩 Another granny square experiment! These two pieces are chunky chunks of luscious, and this experiment is all about bulky. I bought six skeins of yarn at my favorite local shop, Stitcher's Garden . (Love that delightful place! Highly recommended for all things colorful and crafty. Unfortunately, the checkout gal told me that they are phasing out carrying yarn, and only going to have sewing items in the future. Ah, well, I'll still meander in there and marvel at the colors and patterns.) With those six lovely skeins I made two supersized granny squares. One has four colors in it (dark blue, light blue, red, and pink), and the other has two colors in it (purple and blue). Here's a whole folder of way too many pics, showing that I had way too much fun 😎 posing these pieces:   Chunky Chunks I started with the quad-color plan: dark blue, light blue, pink, and red. I turned those four sk...

I love this sweet beast of a piece! 😍 Granny Squares Galore? Godzilla Granny ...  It was difficult to decide what to call this gorgeous monster. 🤩 And it is impossible to get a sense of scale from the photo above . Don't be fooled by the cute poms, and the candy colors. No little baby blankets here, this thing is as big as The Beast . 😎 To get a good look at how big it actually is, I tried draping it over a chair ... but that just made it look like a piled up crash site, with poms and ruffles. 😂   So, I tried giving it scale by arranging it on the couch. But that didn't really work either, because now it just looks like a train wreck . With poms and ruffles. 😆 I absolutely loved making this friendly monster. Here's a photo album of the process ,  including several delightful poses, plus me sitting on the couch. 😁  All the yarn for this piece was actually a kit. But, I ended up not doing the kit piece. I just did my own easy granny square collection. ?...

Itty Bitty Knitty

Love this delightful gift from my niece, Inara! 😍 It is not crochet, but it deserves a post here, because this sweet piece is super special on so many levels. First of all, Inara is technically not my niece. 😁 But, she calls me Aunt Becky, and I do love that. For all the kids who are not my nieces and nephews  (they're my dozens of cousins' kids, mostly 😎)  who've been calling me Aunt Becky since I can remember, I feel that special love. Extended family is a rare blend of extra family on top of more family. 💑💖   Inara is the daughter of my brother's in-laws, so she is Frank's niece by marriage. It has been over a decade since Frank's wife passed away, and he is still close with his in-laws. Still family. That is special beyond words, and I'm richly blessed and deeply grateful to be a little part of that. Secondly, this sweet piece is so special, because look at all that fringe! 🤩 Inara has been my little crochet buddy for several years now. She first...

This sweet piece is my first public showing! 🤩 In the Visitor's Center office  😄 on the  first floor of the CSUP Library! 😎 I'm pretty sure this officially makes me a crochet artist now.   🤔  With my work on display for all the people to see.  😍   I can't stop grinnin'.  😁   There is a happy backstory to this colorful yarn. It is the "free to good home" kind of yarn.   😄 Kenny, one of our university librarians, keeps a lost-and-found assortment of items on a shelf behind the front desk. He called me over one morning and handed this odd ball to me! 😋 It was rather rumpled -  loose'ish and a teeny bit unraveled, and had no label on it. But otherwise perfectly good. Clean, brand new , just lost. Needing a good home. Well, it found one! 😍 Of course, I gladly accepted this little Christmas gift , because I knew immediately what I needed to do - make something sweet and bring it BACK to the library for decorat...
