Office Party

Image
I made this trio for a co-worker's going away party. So sad to see her go, but so happy for her career upgrade. 🤩 I love her dearly, she trained me on everything, and I can hardly imagine the office without her. But, I know she is going to be awesome in her new position (coaching volleyball!) and I am going to have to move forward without her. 😎 When my co-worker told me her three favorite colors were red, black, and purple - I knew exactly what I needed to do! No mixing, but plenty of matching. Who says bold colors clash?! Certainly not me! I had to make a trio of those bold colors, just to prove you can layer anything over and under anything else, when they are all fabulous. 😎  Nothing fancy here, just the plain old usual: rectangular scarves, mesh pattern, fringe and ruffle. I don't know if my co-worker likes scarves, but I know that she likes these three colors. And who doesn't love to accessorize with this style?! 😍 Love this ruffle! The red piece is composed of ...

Unicorn Camouflage

This is not your grandfather's camouflage! 😋 Or is it? 😁 I absolutely loved making this sweet piece, and it is comfy cozy enough for any grandfather to appreciate. Plus, those soft colors are perfect for grandpappy dreaming. Even softer: the chenille yarn is positively luxurious! And so fun to work with, I love how it feels so fluffy and works up so fast. The yarn company calls this yarn "Naptime," and that is a perfect label for chenille. It has a medium weight given, but I feel like it borders on light weight. Each strand is quite thin by itself, and that can be beautiful. For example: Hippie Fringe , Clouds and Sunshine,   Sage and Sand .  And a beautiful bonus of Sage and Sand: New Orleans Winter . But this time, I wanted something a bit more bulky. So, I combined four strands at once, each a different color. And, yay!! The camouflage of unicorns emerged like magic. 😍  I do love mixing colors, and several times I have made classic camouflage items for my A...

Sunrise Sherbet

So fun! I always love crocheting with bulky weight yarn. It works up fast and easy. It makes me feel productive. Even when all I'm doing is jus'chillin'😎 and hanging out doin' my fave hobby.🤩 Each one of these pieces is actually just half a scarf, which makes for a cute quartet of colors. A slightly different pattern for each one, all the same shape, and varying lengths. They're sisters in a set of a sunrise color scheme, and I absolutely adore the look and feel of the whole project.   This bulky weight, ribbed texture yarn is now discontinued. Darn! I bought four skeins of it last year, with exactly this kind of project in mind. I imagined a slightly different piece in each color, but all with the same general theme. Line them up, and see how it looks. Now I wish I had purchased more! I wasn't sure if I'd like working with that ribbed texture, so I thought I'd just whip out mini-scarves, in different stitches, and see what happens. Of course it all tu...

Jelly Bean Cotton Candy

What a fluffy fun pair! These scarves are made of a novelty yarn that worked up fast and easy. Colorfully fuzzy and so delightful to play with, I love how this yarn looks and feels. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I can hold out for those smart sales. 😎  I will definitely be making more colorful gems with this yarn. These scarves are like costume pieces, using the same "Mandala Fluff" category of yarn I used a few months ago in  Costume Party . Except this time, instead of using the fluffy yarn only as edging and fringe, I made the entire piece using this fuzzy fun yarn. And what a sweet treat this is! I just had to call it Jelly Bean Cotton Candy, because, well... yea. Obviously. 😁 This yarn has a jumbo weight, and that makes it easy to work with. It flows smoothly and didn't catch or snag even once, which was a pleasant surprise. But because of its fluffiness, this yarn hides the stitch detail (body, above) a little bit. And that's ok, because, WOW, it'...
