Under Color Crochet

  These two sweet pieces have so much in common - and they are so entirely different from each other. I had to call them Sister Shawls. 😁 Like these two shawls, my sister and I had a lot in common, and we were completely opposite on so many things. Aw, Cindy, my big sis, I miss you. 😍  I think Cindy would have liked both of these shawls. They are the exact same pattern, but two totally different yarns. The gray yarn is a bulky weight chenille, so soft and luxurious, it is absolutely dreamy to wear. It also has a beautiful sheen that makes this luscious color anything but dull gray. The pale turquoise colored yarn is extra fine weight, and actually kind of hard to work with, it's so fine. Take a look at how delicate it is:  This is my favorite "Summer Nights" yarn, that I usually work with three strands at a time. I super duper especially loved working with this novelty yarn: two shades of pink, glossy sheen, with sequins. 🤩 Could it BE any more fabulous?!  😎  I've had a long term love affair with sequins:    Gold and Silver ,   Winter Mint ,   Moon Stone ,  Snow Day .   But I know, it looks more fabulous than it feels...it can be a bit scratchy on the skin. That's why I mostly just experiment and have fun with it, but I don't work up big projects on it... or do I?!  😁 I do this often: make a giant ball of starting chain. Sometimes I combine fine strands (above) and sometimes I just take one bulky strand (below) and run with it. 😁 In the end, all I end up with is a giant ball of a starting chain, and it feels like I have really accomplished something great. 😎 Like, "Big ball.   This sparkly yarn is so fun to work with, and I love how it looks and feels. 😍 I t has a little bit of stretch to it, and still holds its shape really well. The yarn is called "Date Night," and even though I haven't been on a date in 35 years 😆  I still love it.  I have multiple leftovers from various projects, and I just can't throw out even a short string of this. This sparkling beautiful blue piece was such a labor of love, whew! I broke up with it multiple times, but we always got back together. 😍 My on-again off-again relationship with this piece (above) was so dramatic, I had to move on to a similarly colored piece (below), but with double the strands. 😎   Both pieces are alternating rows of single crochet and   triple crochet stitch, in super fine weight yarn. That makes for slow going. With this lacey yarn, it takes a long time to work up any amount. And it is so worth it! 😍 This yarn (above) is called Amazing Lace, and the two colors here are Cobalt Butterfly (right) and Turquoise Shell (left). Fantastic names for fantastic colors! I absolutely love how they look together. In certain light, they almost look like the same color. But then in other light, they are clearly so different.   I love blue! My love affair with blue goes way back: Blue Jean Baby , Winter Blues , Two Blue , Blue Moon . I can't stop lovin' blue. 😎 More and more, and more of the same. But different. Fluffy ruffle, colorful fringe, sparkle and texture. Deep blue, so deep, it is almost black in certain light. Pale blue, so pale, it could be mistaken for white. Love these contrasts!  So many blues, so little time. 😎My list of blue love goes on and on:  Turquoise Blue , Neptune's Beard ,  Earth and Mars ,  Sea Shine , Winter Mint . I love how one blue piled up on a different blue and wrapped around another blue is all a new kind of blue. 😁 Snuggle up with blue! 😍 The faux fur in pale blue looks so pale, it could almost be mistaken for white.
