Under Color Crochet

  Another yummy yarn from Yarned & Dangerous ! 😍 This gorgeous yarn is a cotton and viscose blend. I did not know what viscose is, but that didn't matter when I splurged on this delightful investment of color and fun. 😎 I just loved the look and feel of it, and I knew immediately that the color scheme would make a snazzy granny square. Turns out, viscose is a synthetic fiber made from cellulose, usually wood or bamboo (thanks, internet). It holds dye well, has a good shape, and blends well with cotton. So perfect! Even though it is a little pricey, I will definitely be buying more of this yummy yarn.  I bought four little cakes of this yarn, in two different color schemes, like sunrise and sunset. I was thinking about doubling up the cakes, like I did for the purple piece in Mega Granny Squares . But then I decided that four smaller pieces will have four times the cuteness here. 😍 Plus, that let me experiment a little bit more, each time with different edging styles. I ...

  These two green pieces are perfect summer fun! On the left is a mesh shawl of medium weight "Soft Secret" yarn, in lime. And on the right is a simple scarf of sc stitches, with light weight "Coboo" yarn in the perfectly named color of grass green. Both pieces have a fluffy edging of "Terryspun" yarn, in a color called glow, which is faintly green and perfectly fun. I loved making these garden party lovlies because it is just so doggone enjoyable to make pretty pieces that are as easy peas'y summer breezy as these. 😍 And because I used up some leftover fuzzy yarn that is hard to work with, but makes perfect edging.   Way too cute! So easy and fun to make, I absolutely love this little project. I learned how to make the basic pattern here: Genghis Con . I attended a fantastic Side Quest called "Crochet a Dice Bag," hosted by a super nice guy, and attended by really cool people. I can't remember anybody's names now, but I hope to see them again next year, and show them this blog post. 😍 At the Side Quest, we each got to pick a small ball of yarn. I picked simple gray, and immediately loved how smart, cool, and simple this pattern is. The dice bag used up only about half the yarn ball, so when I got home, I experimented with a variation of the pattern. The experiment ended up producing more of a basket than a bag. And I learned a thing or two there, which was cool, and I actually really like the basket option, but I knew then that I wanted to stick with the bag pattern for now.   I had so much fun creating these "cakes" for my cousin's wedding! 😎 Each one contains a dozen scarves, rolled up and layered, all different shapes and sizes. Inside each layer are more scarves of various textures and color schemes, like delightful little hidden secrets. 🤩 Plus there are several extra pieces of ruffle that wrap around between the layers.  There are so many different kinds of yarn wrapped up in these cakes, it is crazy fun. From bulky novelty yarn, to fine weight sparkling, the mixture of textures is a clash all its own. 😋 And, so easy to assemble, plus they can be rearranged on a whim. Here's how they stack up:  Love all the textures and colors! The "chocolate cake" contains much more than plain chocolate. There is Army camouflage in there, along with blueberry, burgundy, and a shaggy woodland color scheme. Like buried treasure, there is so much to uncover as you take apart the layers. Lots'a fringe, plenty'a ruffle, and a bunch'a colors! Nothing new here in the design. This is the same pattern I love doing, because it feels good, looks great, and always turns out perfect. There's so much to love here, and it reminds me of a fizzy ice cream soda, berry-full of fun and flavor. That's why I had to give it such a silly name. 😍 This piece looks great all by itself, like a road to ruffle.  And it looks super cool with my winter coat. I had way too much fun posing this piece. Love the textures! The yarn company called this color scheme "Cloud Nine," and while I do like that name, I just had to rename it. Because "snazzy-berry" captures the essence of those raspberry-purple and blackberry-blue colors, while "soda" gives you that sense of vanilla ice cream in there somewhere.
