Under Color Crochet

This piece has the look and feel of a warm sunny day in January. 🤩 Nuthin' fancy, nuthin' new here. Just the same easy rectangle that I love making. Same simple mesh pattern (click here to see the steps) . Can't say it's very special, this one single piece... aw, but look at it! Super sunny special. 🌞 I love how soft and sweet it is, the yarn is perfectly named "So Soft." Plus it has a subtle sheen that makes it look like an actual ray of sunshine.  I love how it keeps changing color, depending on the lighting and background. My phone camera sometimes couldn't decide where to go with this yellow, I had to chuckle when I watched it adjust itself to the color each time. Sometimes buttery golden, sometimes more lemony yellow, sometimes almost orange'ish-but-not-quite. This color is so full and yet still cozy, it says complex. Ah, makes me think of fine wine. Hmm, sounds good right about now. 🤩 The yarn company calls this color "Saffron," and...

I love earth tones! Especially when it includes sparkle. 😍 Darn, the sparkle doesn't show up well in these photos, but I promise it is there. This yarn has a thread of metallic gold running through it, and it adds a beautiful glimmer to an already gorgeous texture.  This yarn is called Shawl in a Cake, and the official name for the color scheme is "Namaste Neutrals." A lot of yarn companies call these delicious color schemes "Neutrals," and I simply have to disagree. There is nothing neutral about chocolate, caramel, coffee, and cream. Please! 😉   This yarn is so wonderful to work with, I keep working with it. 😎 Around this same time last year, I posted the little project of pieces called  Sand Sparkle . At that time, I was keeping it small and simple... oh, how times have changed! 😎 Just the fringe in these two caramel mocha pieces added up to more yarn used than the sandy sparkly project. Say "yes!" to fringe fest! I love the little solar system...

  I love how these turned out! So sparkly, so airy and delightful! They look like they have some substance, because of all that sparkle, but they feel like air because of the fine and extra fine weights of the yarns.  I used up all the rest of the super fine novelty yarn with sequins that I still had, both silver and gold. Whew! What a relief. It is rather difficult to work with the sequined yarn, just so fine and so crinkly. It doesn't hold well and doesn't want to follow along with what you're doing. I love how it looks, but I don't like how it behaves.  So, the perfect pairing did the trick. The novelty sequined yarn does work a bit better when paired with a finger friendly yarn, like Vanna's Glamour (which has its own delicate shimmer), unfortunately now discontinued. I paired Vanna's "topaz" with the gold sequins and Vanna's "platinum" with the silver. They matched perfectly, made a great texture together, and doubled the sparkle .  ...
