Under Color Crochet

      Aw! This makes me so happy: my dearest cousin, Cathy, opening boxes from me. 😍 I sent a few small boxes of my simple stuff, just the usual colorful creations that I love making. And I love it even more when those creative crochet pieces go to a good home. 😎 Free-To-Good-Home could be the title of this blog, instead of Under Color Crochet. 😁 Because all of my crochet items are donated to friends, family, and organizations that can best make use of them. And Cathy is using them to cheer, warm, and inspire her students! I am absolutely thrilled about that. 🤩 In the snapshot above, Cathy has just opened the box with the gray sister of Sister Shawls .   And below, she is opening the box that contains one of the two Devil'icious pieces. This blue'n'white quartet combo makes me so happy. 😍 I had way too much colorful fun working in just these simple hues. Here's a photo album, Shapes of Capes , full of proof that I enjoy this too much. 😁 I have a long term love affair going with blues: Blue Moon , Two Blue , Blue and Blue . And with whites: Snow Day  (when it's all about pure vanilla'ness),  Candy Snow , and  Fireworks Cake Volcano Circus  (when it just needs a dramatic touch of white contrast).  I absolutely love the shapes of these capes. 🤩 The blue cape is made with extra fine weight yarn, with a touch of sparkle. And the white cape (more of a shawl, really, but kinda cape'y, too 😎) is made with a bulky weight chenille that feels like warm cloud.   This sparkly yarn is so fun to work with, and I love how it looks and feels. 😍 I t has a little bit of stretch to it, and still holds its shape really well. The yarn is called "Date Night," and even though I haven't been on a date in 35 years 😆  I still love it.  I have multiple leftovers from various projects, and I just can't throw out even a short string of this.   These two green pieces are perfect summer fun! On the left is a mesh shawl of medium weight "Soft Secret" yarn, in lime. And on the right is a simple scarf of sc stitches, with light weight "Coboo" yarn in the perfectly named color of grass green. Both pieces have a fluffy edging of "Terryspun" yarn, in a color called glow, which is faintly green and perfectly fun. I loved making these garden party lovlies because it is just so doggone enjoyable to make pretty pieces that are as easy peas'y summer breezy as these. 😍 And because I used up some leftover fuzzy yarn that is hard to work with, but makes perfect edging. Win, win! 😎   Look how great both pieces go with my jean jacket! 🤩 I love the texture and feel of both pieces, each with a different look. Obviously, I had way too much fun posing these pieces.   😆 Just keepin' it real.  🤩 LOL! I love this guy. I feel like I dated him once.  😎 Ok, seriously now, here is what these pieces actually look like (below), when not pretending to be too dude cool. But, they're still totally cool, of course. 😎  The same basic pattern, all the same faves that I love (fringe, ruffle, too many colors and textures all at once).   "Cloud Cakes" was a possible name for this set. Also "Vanilla Chinchilla." (That's not actually the name of a color scheme? Well, it should be! 😎) I had to let go of "Foggy Faux Fur," but I kept " Marshmallow Fluff ." (That's the name of the folder where I have way too many photos of these fun pieces.) I love making up names for color schemes. Especially this set! I did already kinda know that white has so many more whites than just plain white. But this sweet quartet of whites really made me appreciate plain old plain white. 🤩 Snow, cloud, vanilla, marshmallow. White and more white, nuthin' but white. And still so much fun! Off white, creamy white, pearly white, bright white. I kept going with whites for a while, because I hadn't done it before. 😁 So many textures here, I love how they stack up.
