Hippie Princess Beach Bag

Image
Purple and pink plus fringe and ruffle, all in one simple mesh bag! That is an accessory every Hippie Princess needs for the beach. This bargain yarn was taking up space on my overloaded craft shelf. I needed an easy project to make it go away fast, and this mesh beach bag was the perfect solution. So simple, and it turned out so cute. The basic pattern is a rectangle'ish single crochet mesh, keep going until one skein is used up. Fold it in half, and with the other skein, stitch up the sides, add a shoulder strap (I had to ruffle it just a teeny bit), and fringe it up for the love of fringe. Perfect Princess colors and Hippie fun. This piece is super floppy, because of the mesh being all sc stitches. I used a size I crochet hook for the whole thing, including the edge connection, shoulder strap, and ruffle. Because it doesn't hold its shape at all,  it is difficult to get a sense of scale in these photos. It might look a bit small, but this bag is surprisingly roomy inside.

Sparkly Mini-Purse

This little clutch purse is super easy to make. The pattern is: (1) make a square, (2) fold it into rectangular thirds, and (3) stitch the lower two-thirds sides together. That's it! I made this one in sc stitches the whole way, because that is fast and easy. I just wanted to see how this worked out, and I was delighted with how cute this simple little piece is. I think next time I will vary the stitches, just to give it some texture. This yarn, with its metallic chainette construction, doesn't show the stitch texture well, but it sure does have fun with all that sparkle. Show off! 😎 I thought it would be more solid, but it turned out kind of floppy. Not ideal for a disco night out. 🤩 But perfect for decorative storage. I thought about keeping my crochet kit in it, but that doesn't really work... the small hooks keep slipping through the stitches, and the ends of the scissors poked through, too. Not functional here, but it sure does look cute! 😍 This little purse is ex

Poncho Tequila

What colorful fun! The super bulky weight yarns of this piece worked up so fast and easy, I had time for an afternoon margarita. I was exploring ideas for a circular pattern, because I have a few other fun things in mind for upcoming projects. Before I knew it, this poncho just kind of started creating itself.  The body of this poncho was made with five cakes of "Thick and Quick" in the color scheme of Pinwheel. Plus, there are two cakes of "Mandala Fluffy" in the trim. So, with seven cakes in this piece, it is comfortably heavy. This poncho might look sunny and bright, but it is perfect for cold weather.  One fluffy trim is the color scheme of Mermaid and the other is Jellyfish. Love all those clever names! Love fluffy trim for the top and bottom of any piece! And here, those clashing colors are especially perfect, because this poncho is meant for a party. Maybe a costume party. 😎 I used a size N crochet hook for both main body and trim. That worked perfect to s

Garter Snake

Love those muted blues and grays complementing that electric green! The yarn company called this color scheme "Garden Maze," and that is a lovely name. But it just didn't quite work for me, so I decided to call this exactly what it reminds me of - a snake! This scarf is so big, bulky, and heavy... it is more anaconda than garter snake. Ah, but those amazing colors! They have a sweetness about their combination that says friendly Garter Snake.    The body of the scarf is row after row of single crochet, a super easy pattern that shows off the stitch detail. It holds its shape firmly, and is surprisingly soft. The category of yarn is "Thick & Quick," and I was worried at first that it might make an itchy, rough scarf. It looks so heavy and coarse. It does make for a heavy scarf, but it is not coarse at all!  The yarn of the body is a superbulky weight, while the edge, ruffles, and fringe are all medium weight. I used a size N crochet hook for the body, and s
