Under Color Crochet

I love earth tones! Especially when it includes sparkle. 😍 Darn, the sparkle doesn't show up well in these photos, but I promise it is there. This yarn has a thread of metallic gold running through it, and it adds a beautiful glimmer to an already gorgeous texture.  This yarn is called Shawl in a Cake, and the official name for the color scheme is "Namaste Neutrals." A lot of yarn companies call these delicious color schemes "Neutrals," and I simply have to disagree. There is nothing neutral about chocolate, caramel, coffee, and cream. Please! 😉   This yarn is so wonderful to work with, I keep working with it. 😎 Around this same time last year, I posted the little project of pieces called  Sand Sparkle . At that time, I was keeping it small and simple... oh, how times have changed! 😎 Just the fringe in these two caramel mocha pieces added up to more yarn used than the sandy sparkly project. Say "yes!" to fringe fest! I love the little solar system...

This wonderful mess reminds me of a silly dog I used to love, and the trio of rascally kids that he belonged to. Sam, Justin, and Moriah (my cousin's kids) are all grown up now, and Hunter passed on to the happy hunting grounds in the sky. They are all still dearest to my heart, and they continue to influence and inspire me in ways they will never know.  The combination of earth toned colors in this crochet piece is supposed to look grown up, just like Hunter was maybe going to be a smart Labrador Retriever who knew how to hunt and track. But the mix-matched way all the layers are formed puts this delightful piece in the category of playful, just like Hunter always was. From puppy to old dog, he never seemed to mature, but he was forever lovable. I labeled this piece Sage and Sand, because of its herbal and earthy colors.   I made these sandy colored lovlies last week, and I absolutely love how they look . 💖 They have just a bit of sparkle, thanks to a delicate metallic thread in the yarn . 🌞In the sunlight, they have a shimmer that almost hurts to look at. In the shade, they still sparkle, just enough to make you want to look closer. The yarn company calls these colors "Namaste Neutrals," and while that is rather clever, I don't entirely agree. Certainly I concur with the "namaste" part, because working with these colors is as pleasant as a peaceful greeting.  It is the "neutral" label that I must challenge.  These bold earthy tones are too vibrant to be called neutral. In certain light, one section appears almost coppery, but that same section in other light might look like iced coffee. I also observed the sandy color changing from gingery to buttery.
