Staff Christmas Party!! What a great way to give away colorful fun! 😎 I helped decorate the tables at our staff Christmas party, and I was allowed to put a crochet piece or two, or three 🤩 on each table. If this snazzy stack looks familiar (remember, that back-loop-only trick?! so easy, so snazzy), it is because it first appeared here: Comfy Cozy. Now, as a centerpiece, this trio of cuddle bundles is even snazzier.

Every fun table at this event had a unique look, and the whole place sparkled with festive flavor. Ten tables in all, twenty crochet pieces arranged in their centers. I had way to much fun posing these pieces. 😍


Every one of these pretty pieces has recently appeared in a post on this blog, and it looks like there's been a lot of parties going on!  😎  Party 1 (for those pinky-peach party lovers) and  Party 2  (for those purple lovin' lovers). Oh, and there was a previous party of inspiration for these pieces: Office Party. Plus, there was more colorful fun here and there and everywhere:  Blue Christmas, Hippie Chicks, Comfy Cozy. 


I was absolutely delighted to see people touching these scarves, looking closely at some, and wondering what it was in the center of each table. One lady actually took a scarf off the center, wrapped it around her shoulders, and played costume dress-up for a minute. 😍 Exactly what it was there for! To have fun. She folded it back up, and returned it to the center. I was too busy at the end of the party to notice what happened to that piece, but I hope she got it. 😎


During the party, there were drinks and appetizers, plus a trivia game for entertainment. The official prizes for the winners of the trivia game were gift cards, provided by admin. The unofficial prize on every table was a crochet piece, if you wanted to take one. Every single piece disappeared into the happy hands of one of my colleagues. I was so delighted with this give-away! I'm still smiling from it. 😍

A week or so before the party, I assembled everything for an inventory, and took a few photos (to share with my co-decorating colleague). I have to chuckle at how cute these pieces look, all lined up on the couch, like kids ready for mischief: Cute on the Couch.


Too much ruffle? Never!
Too fluffy? Impossible.

I thought this big piece (below), which is basically a poncho (kinda like Poncho Tequila 😎), was too bulky for anyone to love it as much as I do. Ah, but it found a good home. I saw a colleague take it like the cuddly beast it is. Deserving of so much love.😍

I love this sweet beast of a piece! 😍 Granny Squares Galore? Godzilla Granny ...  It was difficult to decide what to call this gorgeous monster. 🤩 And it is impossible to get a sense of scale from the photo above . Don't be fooled by the cute poms, and the candy colors. No little baby blankets here, this thing is as big as The Beast . 😎 To get a good look at how big it actually is, I tried draping it over a chair ... but that just made it look like a piled up crash site, with poms and ruffles. 😂   So, I tried giving it scale by arranging it on the couch. But that didn't really work either, because now it just looks like a train wreck . With poms and ruffles. 😆 I absolutely loved making this friendly monster. Ruffle Monster

This beautiful beast was inspired by Inara, my brother’s niece by marriage. She calls me “Aunt Becky,” even though I'm not actually her aunt in any legal or blood way. Oh, how I love the sound of her sweet voice saying a label that I’ve hardly earned. Extended family is so special, it’s hard to describe, and harder still to explain to people who don’t have as much as we do. Frank’s in-laws became part of my extended family, along with our 22 first cousins (some of whom are almost like siblings to us), and their 45 kids (many of whom are like nieces and nephews to us), all of which I delight in using to confuse my students. Frank’s wife, Kelly, died in 2012, which for some would mean the end of in-law relationships. Instead, a beautiful thing happened, a new closeness. Shortly after Kelly’s funeral, Frank told me that his sister-in-law, Rebekah, had said to him, “You are still uncle to our kids, you will always be their uncle.” Also, Frank later told me that he has become better fri...

"Unboxing Becky"

      Aw! This makes me so happy: my dearest cousin, Cathy, opening boxes from me. 😍 I sent a few small boxes of my simple stuff, just the usual colorful creations that I love making. And I love it even more when those creative crochet pieces go to a good home. 😎 Free-To-Good-Home could be the title of this blog, instead of Under Color Crochet. 😁 Because all of my crochet items are donated to friends, family, and organizations that can best make use of them. And Cathy is using them to cheer, warm, and inspire her students! I am absolutely thrilled about that. 🤩 In the snapshot above, Cathy has just opened the box with the gray sister of Sister Shawls .   And below, she is opening the box that contains one of the two Devil'icious pieces. The other sister of Sister Shawls and the other Devil'icious piece went to Inara...
