Pillow Party

So delightful! Four pillows in a pile, all different sizes and each with its own colorful flair. Tied up with the cheerful bow of Coral Snake, this fluffy stack of ruffled fun would make a cute gift for a bridal or baby shower. I'm thinking about entering the whole fun bundle in the state fair... but judges will look too close and find all the imperfections too fast. 😎

A few old lumpy pillows easily transformed into this stack of puffy ruffles! Don't look too close. The lumpy stuffing is still lumpy. 😋 I just didn't want to throw out big old pillows, and this project was already percolating in my mind. After running the bumpy blobs through the wash one more time, they smelled so clean and fresh, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with those old pillows - make new pillows! 😃

Aw, look! There's Baby Beast, trying to join the pillow party! 😎

All different kinds of ruffles! Love those ruffle details.

This pillow (below) is all one kind of yarn, Baby Soft Boucle, in coral. And it is all one piece, single crochet. Super easy to stitch together along the seams, nothing fancy. It doesn't need any frills, because it is already so soft and comfy, with a wonderful texture.

This pillow (below) is a study of pinks. There are three different kinds of yarn, all bargain leftovers from previous projects. The front and back panel are two large granny squares of single crochet, back-loop-only. That gives it the ribbed texture, and really makes the stitches pop. I simply attached the panels together (sc), and added a double stitch ruffle to that seam all the way around. That makes for more of a wave than a ruffle, which was perfect for the texture. Then, I added a dc row of fluffy yarn on top of the wave, and that made it all groovy!

This pillow (below) has a lot going on - double ruffle of triple stitch in two colors, fringe on the corners, two kinds of yarn in the body. Is it too frilly? Never! It almost looks like some kind of piñata. I love it! Hmm, that gives me a new idea... 🤩 The body is all one piece of dc, which gives it a different look and texture than the other pillows in this party.

This pillow (below) has two different colored panels, yellow on one side and pale turquoise on the other. The triple stitch ruffle holds it all together, with the pink making a fun contrast to both panels.

This close-up stack shows the differences in texture and stitching.
