Under Color Crochet

This blue'n'white quartet combo makes me so happy. 😍 I had way too much colorful fun working in just these simple hues. Here's a photo album, Shapes of Capes , full of proof that I enjoy this too much. 😁 I have a long term love affair going with blues: Blue Moon , Two Blue , Blue and Blue . And with whites: Snow Day  (when it's all about pure vanilla'ness),  Candy Snow , and  Fireworks Cake Volcano Circus  (when it just needs a dramatic touch of white contrast).  I absolutely love the shapes of these capes. 🤩 The blue cape is made with extra fine weight yarn, with a touch of sparkle. And the white cape (more of a shawl, really, but kinda cape'y, too 😎) is made with a bulky weight chenille that feels like warm cloud. I super duper especially loved working with this novelty yarn: two shades of pink, glossy sheen, with sequins. 🤩 Could it BE any more fabulous?!  😎  I've had a long term love affair with sequins:    Gold and Silver ,   Winter Mint ,   Moon Stone ,  Snow Day .   But I know, it looks more fabulous than it feels...it can be a bit scratchy on the skin. That's why I mostly just experiment and have fun with it, but I don't work up big projects on it... or do I?!  😁 I do this often: make a giant ball of starting chain. Sometimes I combine fine strands (above) and sometimes I just take one bulky strand (below) and run with it. 😁 In the end, all I end up with is a giant ball of a starting chain, and it feels like I have really accomplished something great. 😎 Like, "Big ball.   I absolutely love these sweet pieces!    😍   They are all the same basic pattern of repeating shell stitches, which I learned from watching this 10-minute video . That easy 10 minutes turned into hours and hours of relaxing, creative, colorful fun. 😎 And, o nce again, thanks Yarned & Dangerous , for the fantastic yarn.   In this quartet of sweet shawls there are actually only three that are small (and multicolored). The fourth one is quite large (and pure purple!), and all of them are completely gorgeous. 🤩 That is one of the cool things about this pattern - you can keep going and going, to make it as large as you want. I absolutely love this fun'n'friendly bag pattern that my Crochet_Nerd_Girlfriend, Trisha, gave me! 😎 The original pattern has asymmetrical handles (see below for Trisha's perfect version), but I modified mine with the skinny straps you see above. I combined two skeins, one pure white and one a "flower garden" color scheme (thanks,  Yarned & Dangerous ), to make it nice'n'sturdy. And this easy breeze'y pattern is so easy-peas'y because it just goes round'n'round. Here's what that looks like:   No turning after each row, just keep going, and it builds all the way up, to whatever height you want to make it. As in: Folder of Colorful Fun . I love this sweet beast of a piece! 😍 Granny Squares Galore? Godzilla Granny ...  It was difficult to decide what to call this gorgeous monster. 🤩 And it is impossible to get a sense of scale from the photo above . Don't be fooled by the cute poms, and the candy colors. No little baby blankets here, this thing is as big as The Beast . 😎 To get a good look at how big it actually is, I tried draping it over a chair ... but that just made it look like a piled up crash site, with poms and ruffles. 😂   So, I tried giving it scale by arranging it on the couch. But that didn't really work either, because now it just looks like a train wreck . With poms and ruffles. 😆 I absolutely loved making this friendly monster.
