Small Shawls

I absolutely love these sweet pieces!  😍  They are all the same basic pattern of repeating shell stitches, which I learned from watching this 10-minute video. That easy 10 minutes turned into hours and hours of relaxing, creative, colorful fun. 😎 And, once again, thanks Yarned & Dangerous, for the fantastic yarn.

In this quartet of sweet shawls there are actually only three that are small (and multicolored). The fourth one is quite large (and pure purple!), and all of them are completely gorgeous. 🤩 That is one of the cool things about this pattern - you can keep going and going, to make it as large as you want. Or you can stop sooner and make it nice and small. Here's a whole folder of way too many pics, showing how much fun I had with this quartet: Small Shawls.

It was because of a fantastic fashion show that I was inspired to make the large purple shawl (above). There was a gathering of local fiber artists, and I fell completely in love with this amazing piece (below). I met the nerdy artist who made it, and talked to her a while about crochet colors, yarn'y yearnings, and stitchy' nerdiness. 😁

I love the look and feel of the shell stitch. It has a beautiful shape to each section, which gives the whole piece a delightful texture. I added a variation later, with an extra row of double crochet in between each row of shell stitches. I also had too much fun adding a few tassels here and there, plus some edging. That made me think about options for more variations, and more, and more. Stay tuned! 😎
