Under Color Crochet

  I absolutely loved making this twisted piece of colorful fun! It is a masterpiece of curly, cute craziness, all thanks to a great pattern, Twisted Jellyfish , from an amazing creator, The Twisted Hatter .  She is a crochet genius, and I am obsessed with her work. I first learned about her twisted genius pieces from my friendly friend at the Salty Stitchery  (who is another creative genius in crochet), like a starting chain of sharing nerdy crochet inspirations. Crochet Gawking .  I love this community of creators!   Look at those curls! 🤩 I love making curls, and this pattern introduced me to a couple of new techniques for widening them, plus making them do curly variations, and embellishing them with edges and fun options. I do have a longtime love affair going on with colorful curls . To me, a swirly curl is a fun variation on my first love, The Ruffle Monster . 😎 I am so happy to have learned a few new tricks about this technique for ruffle lovers....

  A sparkly scarf makes the perfect holiday gift wrap! 😎 It is like wrapping up with a handful of tinsel. This amazing yarn isn't actually yarn, I think. Maybe. Not sure, exactly. 😻 It is basically a metallic thread that is simply gorgeous, so colorful and sparkle'tastic, it is like disco ball magic for crochet art. 🤩 I bought four shimmering cakes of this at my favorite yarn store , Yarned & Dangerous . I used only two of the cakes for this little mesh scarf project, and now I'm wondering what I should create with the other two. I'm feeling something kinda disco-dream-like in the future, maybe. 🪩 The two strands of sparkle yarn makes it look so fancy, but this simple mesh scarf is not difficult.   I crocheted a few playful pieces as a wedding gift for Brian & Kendall. 😍 Their Swamp Wedding theme was the inspiration for this collection, and I had so much fun making it all! Every piece was a learning curve for me, and a little adventure. This was my first time doing amigurumi, and now I'm all in. 😎 So grateful to the mother of the groom, my New Orleans cousin, Linda, for the design inspiration on this theme.   Here's a folder of too many pics of me having too much fun crocheting these shawls for Moriah's  Northwoods Wedding . It started with me looking for yarn, in just the right green color. That was fun right there! 😁 I went to several different stores, and bought a whole bunch of different gorgeous greens. I kept sending her pictures as I was looking at the various yarns. Eventually she just ignored me. 😂 When I finally thought I had enough color options, I whipped up several swatches quickity-quick, so that she could see the samples. With that swatches collection in hand, she choose her perfect green.  So I got started on shawls, and turned into a green machine shawl making monster. 😎 Absolutely loved it. This was so much fun.   This amazing piece took first place at the Colorado State Fair! The super friendly artist, Christine Fleetwood, explained to me that the pattern (Twisted Toadstool) is available here: The Twisted Hatter . Wow! I may or may not decide to try that some day.   So fun and easy! I love making these handy baskets, in different sizes and colors .  So handy, so practical.  Use yarn, to create storage for more yarn.  😎

  Way too much silly fun! Child size (on the left) and teenager size (on the right), which fits me just perfectly. 😂 I do plan on completing the set, and get the adult size on this roster. Meanwhile, these pieces deserve a little showing off. 😎 I'm going to enter this one in the state fair this year, and just see if I can't win a blue ribbon for this blue silliness. 😍 I absolutely love this whimsical pattern, and I plan on making several more of these hats, in different sizes and various color schemes. What is a gal gonna do with a couple dozen granny squares that were supposed to be part of a giant afghan, but ended up being a colorfully epic fail of a kit experiment gone rogue? Make granny packs, of course!  😎 I had signed up for a kit club that was a year-long commitment, and the end result would have been a giant afghan of color and texture. I really gave it my best shot. I am not ashamed to say that less than half way through it, I gave up on the afghan, and switched my own gears. I already had so many granny squares completed (below), I knew it was not a wasted effort. There was so much creative potential here, it was a certainty that I was going to do something colorfully fun.  These pictures (above- all stacked up, below- spread out on the coffee table) show how far I got with the actual kit club directions.
