Granny Shawls

Image
Here's a folder of too many pics of me having too much fun crocheting these shawls for Moriah's  Northwoods Wedding . It started with me looking for yarn, in just the right green color. That was fun right there! 😁 I went to several different stores, and bought a whole bunch of different gorgeous greens. I kept sending her pictures as I was looking at the various yarns. Eventually she just ignored me. 😂 When I finally thought I had enough color options, I whipped up several swatches quickity-quick, so that she could see the samples. With that swatches collection in hand, she choose her perfect green.  So I got started on shawls, and turned into a green machine shawl making monster. 😎 Absolutely loved it. This was so much fun. A project with purpose! I was so honored that she asked me to create for her, and I was beyond thrilled that her bridesmaids had my little pieces of love. Last weekend at the wedding, it was a delight and a joy to watch the bridesmaids flipping t...

Crochet Gawking

Image
This amazing piece took first place at the Colorado State Fair! The super friendly artist, Christine Fleetwood, explained to me that the pattern (Twisted Toadstool) is available here: The Twisted Hatter . Wow! I may or may not decide to try that some day. Christine told me that the pattern is "not super complicated," and I almost kinda believe her a little bit maybe. 😆 I am in awe of Christine's crochet skills - this incredibly talented artist is here: TheSaltyStitchery  on Etsy. And here: TheSaltyStichery on Facebook. Here's a folder of a few more pics of this gorgeous piece at the Colorado State Fair: Crochet Envy and Awe 1 . When I grow up, I want to be just like Christine. 😁 And now, next up, in this gawker report: This incredible piece is on display in the Financial Aid office at CSUP. Yes! If you're in Pueblo, you can go see this crochet art gallery yourself, and be awestruck like I was. When I first saw this, I was escorting a student here, and this pi...

Silly Hats in Action

Image
The award winning photo above is all about me, plain and simple, plus  the wonders of nature in the outdoors.  😆  Thanks,  Crochet Nation , for the inspiration. I had some delightful fun posing for that silly photo, with my first silly hat. And my brother wins the award for most patient old Army guy in the galaxy. Here are several more photos that he so professionally took for me: photo contest . Posing in a silly hat is a special skill. 😎 Famous crochet supermodel, Marzie, makes this silly hat look like a million dollar fun fest! 😍 Actually, her sweet curls make the hat look positively boring. 😂 Marzie is the granddaughter of my dear cousin, Linda, who is also a famous crochet model herself: New Orleans Winter   I have a long term love affair going on with accessories. 🤩 The original post was just the beginning, Silly Hats .  I keep adding to this collection: Crochet Silly Hats   And more are on the way - stay tuned for a swamp wedding themed p...

Fast Baskets

Image
So fun and easy! I love making these handy baskets, in different sizes and colors .  So handy, so practical.  Use yarn, to create storage for more yarn.  😎

Silly Hats

Image
Way too much silly fun! Child size (on the left) and teenager size (on the right), which fits me just perfectly. 😂 I do plan on completing the set, and get the adult size on this roster. Meanwhile, these pieces deserve a little showing off. 😎 I'm going to enter this one in the state fair this year, and just see if I can't win a blue ribbon for this blue silliness. 😍 I absolutely love this whimsical pattern, and I plan on making several more of these hats, in different sizes and various color schemes. Thanks to Annie's Attic for posting this pattern from Snappy Tots. Here's a whole folder of colorful fun: Silly Hats Here's a silly video of more silly fun: twirling my silly hat Yes, that's me. 🤩 Having way too much fun wearing a hat for kids.   Polka dots and ruffles! What a great pairing!

Granny Packs

Image
What is a gal gonna do with a couple dozen granny squares that were supposed to be part of a giant afghan, but ended up being a colorfully epic fail of a kit experiment gone rogue? Make granny packs, of course!  😎 I had signed up for a kit club that was a year-long commitment, and the end result would have been a giant afghan of color and texture. I really gave it my best shot. I am not ashamed to say that less than half way through it, I gave up on the afghan, and switched my own gears. I already had so many granny squares completed (below), I knew it was not a wasted effort. There was so much creative potential here, it was a certainty that I was going to do something colorfully fun.  These pictures (above- all stacked up, below- spread out on the coffee table) show how far I got with the actual kit club directions. Fantastic, and so colorfully fun. I learned a lot, and I loved doing it. I have no complaints about the kit club. I might even do something like that again. Bu...

Peachy Purse

Image
I'm completely in love with the newspaper , Crochet Nation . 😍 I made this little peachy purse starting with their pattern instructions for the "Fringe Clutch," issue 2, page 4. With a few of my own experimental modifications. Because, you had me at fringe. 😄 But, then I decided it was not enough fringe. 😎 Thank you, Crochet Nation , for the inspiration, and for being awesome. 😘 As you can see below, and in the Peachy Purse folder, my final product is just a rough draft. It needs some blocking, and next time maybe some closer attention to stitch counts, plus I think a little bit more fringe. 😆 Still, not bad for a quick whip-it-up piece that is just cute as a button and sweet as a peach.  I am obsessed with fringe'y purses. Here's a whole folder of Dazzly designs , with all their silly sparkle and fringe'y fun. I love playing in the Dazzly space. (Thanks, Jean, for introducing it to me!) Because I love thinking about crocheting a real world version of ...
