Granny Shawls

Here's a folder of too many pics of me having too much fun crocheting these shawls for Moriah's Northwoods Wedding. It started with me looking for yarn, in just the right green color. That was fun right there! 😁 I went to several different stores, and bought a whole bunch of different gorgeous greens. I kept sending her pictures as I was looking at the various yarns. Eventually she just ignored me. 😂 When I finally thought I had enough color options, I whipped up several swatches quickity-quick, so that she could see the samples.

With that swatches collection in hand, she choose her perfect green.

So I got started on shawls, and turned into a green machine shawl making monster. 😎 Absolutely loved it.

This was so much fun. A project with purpose! I was so honored that she asked me to create for her, and I was beyond thrilled that her bridesmaids had my little pieces of love.

Last weekend at the wedding, it was a delight and a joy to watch the bridesmaids flipping their shawls around, and having fun with them, like a costume party. When I arrived at the wedding location, I could see them having fun down by the formal photo area. I stopped to talk to peeps on the way down there, and by the time I got in position to sneak some unofficial photos, the girls were done playing shawl-costume-party 😂 and the official photos were already underway. I did manage to get a photo of one of the bridesmaids who had just tossed her shawl to the photographer. Too funny! He's got it over his shoulder:

I didn't get any other good pictures of the bridesmaids, and they didn't wear the shawls for the actual ceremony. But hopefully Moriah will send me a few pics of their behind-the-scenes fun with shawls, and I'll post them here.

Here's the free pattern from Yarnspirations: Granny Shawl.

Moriah chose that pattern, and I loved it! She chose wisely. 😎 It works up quick and easy, and can be made as big or as bigger as you like. 😉 It is an awesome pattern, which I modified just a teeny bit, with ruffles and fringe. 🤩 Below is a picture of the mother of the bride, my cousin Ann, wearing the shawl I made for her. Same pattern, different color (teal with sparkle). Absolutely gorgeous!

I had so much fun making that shawl, and several others! 😍 Here's a list of folders with pics of me having way too much fun with shawls: Teal Sparkle Shawl, Barbie Shawl, Black Shawls. And now this picture, that Ann sent, cracks me up:

That's my cousin, John, on the left, wearing the Barbie Shawl like a boss! 😎 And Ann is in the middle, sporting the teal sparkle shawl and one of the black shawls. Then my Aunt Margaret on the right, wearing the other black shawl. Looks like a box of my work arrived just in time for family shenanigans on the porch. 😆
