Keepin' it simple

I love a simple scarf! 😍 Look at those beautiful colors! This was an interesting experiment. Both of the above came from the same skein, of a Carnival color scheme from Hobbii Yarns. The top piece is working short rows of sc going vertically with the scarf, and the bottom piece is working long rows of sc going horizontally with the scarf. What an interesting difference the direction makes! Two completely different scarves, same single crochet stitch the whole way. 

I love the look and the texture of that sc stitch. Nothing fancy about this, and the simple beauty just glows through! I know, I would LOVE to embellish both with some fringe and ruffle. 😎 But, this little experiment is all about keeping it simple, because these examples are for a show-and-tell with my Beginner Crochet Class. I am super excited to be teaching a class at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center.  🤩

Here's a whole folder of fun with these pieces: Simple Scarves. So many great colors! I experimented with some easy patterns from Yarnspirations, so that I can offer my students a few different options. Here are my faves: Super Beginner Crochet Scarf (which you can make as large or small as you want), Easy Neckerchief (which is a super cute example of the moss stitch), and Flowering Vine Scarf (a starting chain necklace that I am now obsessed with! I made three variations of it, and I'll keep going because it is just too fun). I love easy peasy! 😍

  I absolutely love how pretty this little scarf turned out! Peachy Purse

  I'm completely in love with the newspaper , Crochet Nation . 😍 I made this little peachy purse starting with their pattern instructions for the "Fringe Clutch," issue 2, page 4. With a few of my own experimental modifications. Because, you had me at fringe. 😄 But, then I decided it was not enough fringe. 😎 Thank you, Crochet Nation , for the inspiration, and for being awesome. 😘 As you can see below, and in the Peachy Purse folder, my final product is just a rough draft. It needs some blocking, and next time maybe some closer attention to stitch counts, plus I think a little bit more fringe. 😆 Still, not bad for a quick whip-it-up piece that is just cute as a button and sweet as a peach.  I am obsessed with fringe'y purses. Silly Hats in Action

I had some delightful fun posing for that silly photo, with my first silly hat. And my brother wins the award for most patient old Army guy in the galaxy.
